Future Cities

I’ve been working through images of what cities were to look like in the ‘future.’  Most of these images are from the late 50s, early 60s.  They provide a nice contrast in how Chinese cities do look now.  Given that most of the journals at this time were focused on the countryside and firmly disregarded urban centers, these images stand as artifacts to what the PRC envisioned for cities after industrialization.  With Mike Davis’ warning of a contiguous metropolitan area stretching from Tokyo to Hong Kong in mind, enjoy the images.
